Paediatric advice

Naturally dry, babies' skin tends to become more fragile under the influence of various aggressions. Hard water in particular, but also the repeated cleansing with very detergent soaps can modify and alter the skin.
To respect the sensitive skin of your baby, it is recommended to use, for the daily bath, a surgras product, soap-free, with a neutral pH.

  • Do I have to use a specific product to wash my baby?
  • The skin of your baby is different from the skin of an adult. It is important to cleanse it with a specific product which will contain:
    - A very soft cleansing base
    - A light fragrance
    - No colouring agents
    - Surgras agents allowing baby's skin protection
Specific products have proven their very high tolerance of babies' skin. You can use them safely.
  • What temperature for the water?
  • Warm: 36°C - 37°C (97°F - 99°F)
Do not add hot water during the bath; you could burn your child.
Use a bath thermometer (practical and not expensive) to check the temperature.

  • A bath every day?
  • Yes, it is necessary for the hygiene and relaxation of your baby. If the weather is warm, or if your baby has "heat sores", do not hesitate to bathe him several times during the day.
  • Lotions
  • Lotions are emulsions often enriched with soothing agents (sweet almond oil for example) intended to clean the skin gently.
They are used to cleanse your baby's buttock when you change his diaper, but also to cleanse his face. Lotions which do not require rinsing are very practical to use, even more when you travel.
Using a lotion does not stand for the daily bath of the baby.
  • The hygiene
  • Do not forget that the skin of your baby is fragile and that it can be responsible for an infection. For your baby's health and well-being, make sure to maintain his skin clean and well hydrated.
Important: Make sure your hands are clean when you take care of your baby.
